Description
As an Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, I with CT experience, you will provide high‑quality general radiography and CT imaging services while ensuring patient safety, accuracy, and compassionate care. This role offers opportunities to develop technical expertise, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to a dynamic diagnostic imaging environment. This position supports both General Radiography and CT.
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
CT experience, including clinical practicum or recent work experience in a CT environment. Demonstrated knowledge of CT imaging protocols, patient positioning, and contrast administration practices. Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and ALARA standards. Proven ability to provide safe, accurate, and patient‑centered care across diverse patient populations. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Ability to manage workload efficiently in a fast‑paced clinical environment. Physical ability to perform the required duties of the position, including patient transfers and prolonged standing.
CTIS certification. Recent acute care or hospital‑based imaging experience. Experience performing CT examinations independently, including contrast‑enhanced studies. Demonstrated familiarity with PACS, RIS, and electronic medical record systems. Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and advanced CT protocols. Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing clinical priorities. Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
