Are you looking for a challenge? Interested in pursuing your management career further? The Patient Care Manager, for Inpatient/ Ambulatory Surgical Services & Endoscopy may be the role for you! This management position is a key leadership role in the patient care service and reports directly to the Director, RDRHC/Zone Program Lead Surgery and MDRD. The Patient Care Manager, RDRHC is responsible for the RDRHC care team and all aspects of care delivery. This role would be responsible for providing leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives. Ensures outcome measurements and standards are met. As a member of the management team, you will be involved in the formulation, development and administration of policy and programs supporting patient focused care programs and delivery at RDRDC. Occasional travel will be required in this role to support rural endoscopy work.
The Patient Care Manager is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership, and organization over the activities of patient care services and administrative operations in support of the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services. These activities will also include the integration of various resources to carry out these activities. The position is also responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of the patient care service. The Patient Care Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective framework for the operations of the patient care service to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective, and safe patient care. The Patient Care Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders to provide leadership to the patient care services.
Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or other health profession governing body. A baccalaureate degree in a health care discipline required. Management experience in clinical services in a large, complex health care setting.
Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and mentoring and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated track record of working effectively in multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and to effectively contribute to patient care. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.
Master’s degree preferred, but an equivalent combination of directly related experience and education may be considered. Demonstrated abilities in coaching, teaching, inspiring and building confidence in others. Experience in direct patient care environment within the previous 5 years. Ability to complete qualitative and quantitative analysis of workload, budget, patient services.
