The Manager, Rehab Services, HJCBI is a leadership position in the Allied Health department and reports to the Director, Brain Injury and Specialized Services. This is a new leadership position (M2-1) to support the professional allied health team in a dynamic and collaborative working environment. Our Mission statement at the Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury is “optimizing the functional potential for persons with acquired brain injury”. We serve adult patients aged 18-65 from across Alberta and some provinces and territories. We are unique west of Ontario as we are the only brain rehab program offering longer term (6-8 months) inpatient rehabilitation. Our program is situated at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury located in Ponoka in Central Alberta. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. The position is responsible and accountable for providing input to the direction, leadership and organization of the activities of Allied Health in support of the vision, mission and strategic direction of Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury. Key responsibilities and accountabilities include people and relationship management, operational planning and management, change leadership and strategic planning, and safety and risk management. Additional responsibilities may include patient and family support and interactions. The Manager must work in collaboration with HJCBI nursing manager, physicians and director, other CCMHBI leadership and union representatives to ensure that the continuity of allied health care is seamless throughout service streams. The Manager must recruit, and performance manage allied health staff and build teams that meet the needs of the program. Additionally, the Manager responsibilities will focus on change management in a work environment where ongoing improvements to service delivery are required to meet the needs of various stakeholders. The ability to focus on the HJCBI vision is essential to affect program planning, initiation and implementation of change management. The manager is required to understand finances and aligning work to stay within assigned budgets.

Master’s degree in an Allied Health profession. 5-7 years’ experience working in an allied health environment. Three to five years in a formal or informal allied health leadership role (ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity).

Extensive experience in brain injury rehabilitation. Brain Injury Rehabilitation specialized services understanding (i.e. Botox, seating, spasticity, orthotics, etc.).
