Description
The Acute Care Manager - Renal Medicine for Unit 31 at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) is responsible and accountable for making department-level decisions on the renal and diabetic medicine unit at RDRHC. The manager has direct leadership responsibilities that contribute to the provision of patient-centered care excellence. The Clinical Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders who include patients, staff, physicians, and community partners. These responsibilities are performed in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager and Director for Inpatient Medicine while building excellent relationships with the physician partners as well.
The Acute Care Manager - Renal and Diabetes Medicine will support the development or administration of policy and programs to support patient and family focused care and collaborative practices within the program. The Acute Care Manager provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced. Will contribute to the formulation of policies, developing programs, development of workflow and administering programs within a staffing model consisting of professional and non-professional health care occupational groups. The Manager is responsible for recruitment and hiring of staff and ensures adequate staff coverage. Will provide feedback to staff to improve performance and support learning needs, in addition, to return to work accommodation and WCB, accident/injury investigation. The successful candidate will have an understanding of budgeting, expenditures, billing and cost drivers that have an impact on the program to optimize efficiencies. Commits to continually improve health and safety performance through the promotion of a culture which supports adherence to the regulations and policies of safe workplace practices as outlined by AHS.
Licensure in good standing with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or another healthcare professional licensing body. Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a manager or supervisory role in a healthcare organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
Master’s Degree in Nursing, business or related health field is desirable. Certification in Nephrology Nursing. Change Management certification (i.e. ProSci).
