The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) department at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge is offering an exciting opportunity for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist I. This Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I position reports directly to the MRI supervisor. The incumbent in this position will demonstrate a high level of imaging competence, equipment knowledge and superior leadership skills through collaboration, inclusion and example. Participation in ongoing education is encouraged. This includes attending meetings, conferences, in-services, professional development programs and student preceptor responsibilities related to Provincial training programs. The incumbent will also demonstrate skills in MRI safety and emergency procedures for MRI environments.

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Demonstrated tact, courtesy and professionalism with radiologists, patients, students, leadership, AHS staff and Physicians. Consistently demonstrated safe MRI use and practices. Must be able to work all scheduled shifts.

Connect Care and PACS proficiency an asset. Volunteering for AHS DI Provincial Committees, Superuser training or additional responsibilities in the department an asset. AHS annual continuing education and ACMDTT education requirements up to date and applicable additional courses preferred. Demonstrated participation in AHS Diagnostic Imaging Quality program/Peervue. Experience and aptitude in mentoring students an asset.
