The Galahad Care Centre is a designated supportive living 4 dementia unit. They are looking to mentor and support a LPN to join it’s facility and work within Residential care setting. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Galahad is a hamlet in east-central Alberta, Canada within Flagstaff County. It is located just a few miles north of the Battle River valley on a former Canadian National rail line. Galahad represents the grace and beauty of Alberta heartland. Situated just north of the beautiful Battle River Valley it is centered between Killam and Castor on Highways 861 and 36. The community is graced with the riches of the soil and a wealth of resources, with vibrant oil, coal mining and electrical power production. Galahad enjoys a trading area with traditional roots in agriculture and the promise of growth in a diversified economic base.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

This position requires frequent physical demands including walking, bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. Transferring patients of varying sizes and degrees of mobility. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Must be able to work in an interdisciplinary team environment as well as to work independently to full scope of LPN practice. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.

Appropriate competency in Connect Care, Care Manager and knowledge of Outlook and MS Teams. Experience with RAI-MDS/inter-RAI HC assessment tool and computer charting. Broad knowledge of provincial, regional, and local community resources. Minimum 1-year previous geriatric experience.
