Description
Wainwright is a vibrant & friendly rural community of around 7,000 located in east-central Alberta on highways 14 & 41. We value providing high quality, effective, efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered care for all of our patients. Primary duties are within the general medicine, obstetrics and emergency units at the Wainwright Health Centre. A Designated Float Licensed Practical Nurse, supports the staffing needs of the units for vacant shifts due to planned or unplanned staff absences. Flexibility to meet the ever-changing relief needs of the programs are essential in this position. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The LPN provides patient and family centered care to acute, obstetrics and ER patient populations. You will be encouraged and expected to work at your full scope of practice and to perform a variety of nursing duties in accordance with current policies and nursing care standards.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
1 year experience in acute care, postpartum care, and/or emergency care in the last (5) years. Current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire). Postpartum internal education program (or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire).
Connect Care experience. ACLS, CTAS preferred.
