Description
This position is a combination of full scope of practice to clients on LTC, AC and ED units in the Myron Thompson Health Centre. Duties and responsibilities are within the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) scope of practice and in collaboration with the interpersonal team. Rural nursing experience is an asset. The Myron Thompson Health Centre is an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long term care beds, 3 flex beds and a five-stretcher emergency department. We serve the Town of Sundre Alberta (http://www.sundre.com/) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsqd4FBKwFg), the surrounding rural districts of Mountain View County (http://www.mountainviewcounty.com/) and Clearwater County (http://www.clearwatercounty.ca/).
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Completion of courses consistent with full scope of practice, including IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration as an asset. Minimum 1 to 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with the interprofessional team. Demonstrated understanding, patience, and sensitivity in relating to patients and their families. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
