Unit 24 GIM is an acute care inpatient unit with a focus on patients admitted under General Internal Medicine. You will develop valuable experience and strong nursing skills working with various internal medicine conditions. Unit 24 is a fast-paced environment where you will build your confidence and nursing skills to full scope. Unit 24 has collaborative care hubs consisting of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Health Care Aides who coordinate closely to deliver high-quality patient care through peer support and empathy. You will work cohesively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to facilitate patient & family-centered care and proactive discharge planning. You will develop mentorship and leadership skills with access to professional development and educational opportunities.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Recent experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse on a general internal medicine unit. Please attach a resume and cover letter in order to be considered. Advanced authorizations through CLHA are required for medication administration via a central line (CVC, PICC, or IVAD) and administering parenteral nutrition.
