Description
The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is a comprehensive tertiary rehabilitation centre with an international reputation for excellence in complex pediatric rehabilitation. Providing safe, ethical Nurse care, the Licensed Practical Nurse integrates knowledge, skills and ability to ensure ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for patients aged 0 - 18 years of age recovering from brain Injury, spinal cord Injury and post-operative, complex orthopedic procedures. Working in the primary and team nursing model, the Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary care team who facilitates collaborative planning with the patient and family central to the decision-making process, following the principles of Family Centered Care. Responsibilities include participation in activities and initiatives aimed at promoting, maintaining and improving quality care and safety for patients, families and caregivers. To gather accurate, real-time information, the Licensed Practical Nurse liaises with caregivers regarding the patient’s needs and progress, as appropriate. The Licensed Practical Nurse in this role must be flexible to take on varying assignments and duties to support all pediatric ambulatory clinics. They must be reliable and maintain a high degree of professionalism in this role.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Knowledge and experience in child development required. Working knowledge of contributing factors and concerns/priorities of children with chronic conditions and developmental disabilities. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills when working with complex families and patients. Demonstrate ability to work in family centered care environment is required. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed, highly motivated LPN who possesses strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Must have a demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
Minimum three years LPN experience preferred. Experience in Pediatrics and strong health assessment skills combined with recent orthopedic nursing experience is preferred.
