Description
1 East is a fast-paced inpatient unit where the Licensed Practical Nurse works as a member of the health care team providing care to cardiology patients, allowing LPNs to develop and grow as individuals and to embrace their CLPNA scope of practice. The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Demonstrated ability to perform and document physical assessments. Demonstrated ability to administer medications within the acute care setting. Demonstrated critical thinking skills re clinical judgment and problem solving. Recent experience in an acute care setting at full scope of practice. Ability to work as a member of a team and demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
