Licensed Practical Nurse

This exciting opportunity with the Medical Float Pool will involve training and working on the various medical units at Red Deer Regional Hospital. You will gain valuable experience in different clinical areas on different units including neurology/stroke, nephrology, palliative/oncology, cardiology, and general internal medicine. You will build working relationships and collaborate closely with staff on multiple medical units to deliver high-quality patient care through peer support and empathy. You will work cohesively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to facilitate patient & family-centered care, and proactive discharge planning. You will develop mentorship and leadership skills with access to professional development and educational opportunities.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Recent experience working in one of the following areas: neurology/stroke, nephrology, palliative/oncology, cardiology, and/or general internal medicine. Recent experience working in a medical float pool. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. Advanced authorizations through CLPNA are required for medication administration via a central line (CVC, PICC, or IVAD) and administering parenteral nutrition.
