Description
Located at the LHHW, Postpartum Unit is a fast-paced area providing healthcare to high-risk postpartum women and newborns. The incumbent will be working with postpartum patients, performing a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. The incumbent will care for a variety of patients including postpartum mothers and newborns. A thorough understanding of postpartum, or gynecology is an asset. The incumbent must demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and consider the Essential Habits as set forth by the Royal Alex Way in daily interactions with colleagues, patients and visitors. Orientation will be established based on experience.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
CPR (BCLS from the Heart and Stroke Foundation) is required. Current acute care experience with postpartum, and/or gynecology is required. Successful completion of a medication exam is required at the time of interview. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.
Current IV certification and central line skills are preferred. Experience with breastfeeding teaching and antepartum are assets.
