Description
As a Licensed Practical Nurse on the Day Surgery Unit, you will be working in a fast paced, team environment to provide comprehensive care to surgical patients. You will have the opportunity to play a key role in a patient’s surgical journey while prioritizing patient and family centered care. You will deliver safe and effective care to patients through your ability to make decisions, solve problems, and work autonomously. You will use your technical skills and clinical judgement to provide care to pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients. The successful candidate will have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum 2 years current surgical experience (within the last 5 years).
