Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at a correctional facility. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care in a secure environment while serving a vulnerable population. Responsibilities: Conduct thorough health assessments and provide direct care to patients, addressing a wide range of medical needs. Administer medications, monitor treatments, and manage chronic conditions in a correctional setting. Educate patients on health and wellness topics, fostering self-care and understanding of medical conditions. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. Document patient care accurately and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with facility policies and regulatory guidelines. Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate care when necessary. Foster positive relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries in a correctional environment. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Excellent assessment skills with the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and challenging environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team. Experience in adult education and the ability to educate patients on health-related topics. Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
Experience in correctional or similar settings is a plus but not required. Certified in Duty to Respond. Connect Care Experience.
