Description

Rockyview Hospital Endoscopy/Bronchoscopy clinic is served by a small, but highly productive, hard-working team providing excellent service to our patients. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 1 year of GI/Endoscopy/Bronchoscopy LPN recent experience. LPN experience working in prep and recovery required. Must be willing to learn to assist with colonoscopies, gastroscopies, bronchoscopies, biopsies, cautery, variceal banding, & polypectomies. Procedural sedation certification required. Minimum 1 year, w/i last 5 years, of acute medical nursing experience. IV certification required; demonstrated skill in clinical decision making. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment where effective organization, prioritization, & multitasking skills are required. Demonstrated ability to function independently & within a team environment. Excellent skills working effectively in team context required; excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills. Strong leadership, coaching, problem-solving, critical thinking & decision-making skills. Position requires employee be physically capable. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment w/ long periods of standing & active fine motor effort (typing & mousing), pulling & pushing heavy stretchers in tight quarters, & where constant walking, lifting & bending are required. These listed activities occur throughout the entire workday, every day. Experience & proficiency with Epic/Connect Care & Microsoft Office required.
Previous experience acting as student preceptor and/or orienting new staff. CVC level 1 certification preferred. Proficiency using Netcare.
