As an LPN, you will work within a multidisciplinary team and play a key role in the support of an integrated holistic approach to the client’s health care, health promotion and health maintenance. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe quality care following the policies and guidelines of AHS while working to your full scope of practice. You will serve a diverse client population with a continual focus on the core values of AHS - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety. As part of a multidisciplinary team of dedicated health care professionals, you will be expected to utilize your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide direct client and family centered care to clients across the life span. You will also demonstrate a professional and positive attitude with excellent communication while prioritizing multiple demands and provide leadership and supervision of Health Care Aides. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Supportive Pathways/P.I.E.C.E. S course. Palliative Care course/experience. NVCI course. It’s Your Move course. Foot care course/experience. Wound Care. IV therapy. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Have great time management and organization abilities in order to balance different priorities at once. Availability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends is a requirement for this position. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks.
Computer proficiency, with experience with Meditech, Connect Care, Rai, NetCare, and Microsoft programs. Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Seniors Health over the past 3 years is preferred. Any other educational courses and seminars that benefit excellent seniors care is always an asset.
