As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 1 year of Trauma, Acute Care, General Surgery experience required in an acute care hospital. Must be flexible and adaptable to work in a fast paced and changing environment. Must not have any restrictions to walk, push, pull, transfer, bend, and carry. N95 fit tested. MLL modules must be up to date or in progress. Connect Care trained. Must be able to work to full scope of practice and have all required clinical competencies up to date. Successful applicant will be held accountable to their professional practice. Ability to lift 25-50 pounds, must not have current activity restrictions, such as pulling, pushing, reaching and bending.
Basic surgical wound/drain care, complex wound care and negative pressure wounds (VAC dressing), NG tube insertion and management. Strong patient teaching skills.
