The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a regulated member of the inter-professional health care team who utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide care to individuals across the life span. The LPN provides care in alignment with Alberta Health Services mission to provide patient focused quality health services and the AHS values of respect, accountability, transparency, engagement, safety, learning, and performance. This is a dynamic position that requires accurate multi-tasking and priority setting in order to accomplish daily goals. The LPN’s practice encompasses the application of nursing knowledge, skills and judgment to assess patient needs and provides nursing care, which is reflective of their level of education and knowledge. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works in a fast-paced Clinic. This posting is for an LPN to work within our Neuroscience department at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Relevant experience with adult population (Neurosciences, Acute Care, Ambulatory Care) as an LPN. BLS Certified. Demonstrated excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational and patient care skills. Able to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment. Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and multitasking skills. Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is required. Ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 40 lbs. Must be able to participate in patient care including assessments, moving and handling, transfers and mobility support. Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods, bend and twist and be able to perform repetitive computer tasks.

Proficiency with Connect Care preferred. Experience as an LPN in an ambulatory environment, 1 years' experience with neuroscience population (Parkinsons, Stroke, MS, Neuromuscular conditions etc) preferred
