Help shape the future of healthcare in Alberta as the new Data & Digital Health Lead! Health Shared Services (HSS) is a new Provincial Health Corporation delivering corporate, non-clinical services and functions to the Alberta health system and enabling health professionals to focus on what they do best: care for patients. The Data & Digital Health (DDH) Lead is a key leadership role within the HSS executive that creates the vision and supplies strategic leadership for system-wide delivery and integration of data and digital health services across Alberta. This role has strategic influence across the health system, as it relates to data and digital health. Digital tools enable health professionals to do their jobs, provide services to remote communities, and participate in professional development and skills upgrading that support high quality care. As this role is provincial in nature, the work location for this position is negotiable within Alberta and may be eligible for a remote/hybrid arrangement, so you can create your ideal work/life balance. Please note that the salary structure for these positions is under review and the starting salary will be less than the band maximum. Health Shared Services (HSS) is accountable to provide corporate and support services for all provincial health agencies (PHA) and provincial health corporations (PHC) in the health system. The Data & Digital Health (DDH) Lead is an executive leader responsible for leading the data and digital health teams within the organization and provides the vision and strategic leadership for system-wide delivery and integration of data and digital health services including Information Technology, Health Informatics, Data and Analytics, Medical Informatics, and Health Information Management. Reporting to the CEO, the DDH Lead provides expert advice to the executive team as they ensure consistent service to all provincial health service organizations as set out in established service agreements and is accountable and responsible for a budget of approximately $800M and over 6,000 staff. The Lead will oversee implementation, operationalization, and evaluation of provincially integrated management of data and analytics services, measurement tools and processes, clinical and corporate information technology systems, equipment and services. The Lead engages with senior leadership in other organizations to ensure priorities and needs are understood and can be planned for in relation to technology and data management services and to ensure consistent standards of service across all partners/clients. In addition, the Lead will work with key internal and external partners, including Provincial Health Agencies, Provincial Health Corporations, and Government of Alberta ministries to establish a short- and long-term plan for digital health and data management and build consensus for the strategic direction of system-wide data and digital health.

The successful candidate has a graduate degree business administration, computer science, engineering, or related discipline as well as 10 years’ senior management experience in information technology, health information management, or related portfolio area. A combination of relevant education, skills, and experience may be considered.

The successful applicant will have: Demonstrated leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement. Experience developing organization strategy and planning. Experience leading strategic initiatives and manage change to achieve positive results. Proven ability to foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals. Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including interpersonal and public relations skills. Ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Demonstrated ability to model innovation and creativity. Established track record of ethical behavior.

Certified Health Executive designation is preferred. Healthcare information or Information Technology certifications are preferred. Previous healthcare experience or experience in an organization of comparable size, complexity and diversity is an asset.
