Description
We are seeking a motivated individual eager to learn and assume a key role within our team. Reporting to the EMS IT Dispatch and Communications Manager, this position supports EMS Communications Centres by managing and maintaining essential systems such as radio dispatch consoles, voice loggers, radio equipment, and radio systems. The primary objectives for the EMS Dispatch Communications Support Specialist include ensuring the availability and optimal performance of these systems. Key Responsibilities: Systems Support: Maintain and ensure the optimal performance of radio dispatch consoles, voice loggers, radio equipment, and radio systems. On-Call Availability: Provide 24/7/365 support for critical systems as required, ensuring minimal downtime and swift issue resolution. IT Ticket Management: Receive, triage, and resolve IT tickets related to dispatch communications systems promptly. Project Participation: Engage in projects and initiatives to support and enhance EMS dispatch business operations. Mentorship and Training: Offer mentorship, guidance, and training to team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable work environment. As an IT Analyst II, you will provide technical support related to information technology applications either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions. You will ensure reliable operations of information systems, resolve complex technical problems, find solutions to customer needs, and lead projects and program initiatives. You will be responsible for more advanced application, telecom or technology support duties. You will investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex problems that have typically been escalated several levels before assignment to this position, and will translate business requirements into technical requirements for a solution and recommend a potential approach to the vendor. You will analyse the solution provided to ensure that it fits both technical requirements and business needs. You will also spend time on project or initiative leadership and delivery.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.
2 year-Electronics Technologist certification or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution.4 years of industry experience in radio systems, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of radio equipment. Strong understanding of radio frequency (RF) fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot RF-related issues. Proficient in using a wide range of electronics test equipment, such as multimeters, signal generators, power meters, spectrum analyzers, cable analyzers, and radio analyzers.Experienced in repairing and programming two-way radios, antennas, and coaxial cables, with a solid understanding of radio frequency radiation exposure and safety precautions. experienced with hand tools and basic test equipment. Proficient in soldering cables, connectors, and printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Certified Engineering Technologist. MS windows and Office applications experience. IT Service Management tool experience (Service NOW). Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, and their use in data transmission. Knowledge of IP addressing schemes, including subnetting and Address allocation. Knowledge of LAN and WAN network topologies. Experience with Voice Logging technology as it is used in a first responder environment. Experience with distributed antenna systems.
