Description
You will possess strong educational experience because you will be providing education and act as a resource for both professional staff and unregulated health care workers within the Home Care program in Grande Prairie. You may assist other sites in the north zone with their educational needs which may require overnight travel. You will work collaboratively with the Educator(s) at Mackenzie Place to provide coordinated orientation and training to staff within Home Care and Mackenzie Place. You may be asked to support community partners with unique learning needs to ensure quality care provided to clients. You will be responsible for orientation for all Seniors Health staff. You will create and maintain educational and orientation materials including checklists. While providing orientation to staff, you are responsible to ensure staff aware of hazard assessments and mitigation strategies as well as review the position/job descriptions. You will assist management with review and provide input to policies/procedures development. You will support the Home Care Nurse on Call desk and cover for day to day operational needs of the manager in the absence of these staff. You will familiarize yourself with new processes and provide staff with the required education to ensure successful rollout of new processes/initiatives. You will be involved in quality improvement initiatives. Working with the managers, you will support the coordination of evidence required for standards reviews/accreditation visits. You will act as a resource for staff. You must be able to adapt to frequent interruptions. You must have strong communication, multitasking, soft, detail-oriented and time management skills. You must bring a positive attitude to the work place. You must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Current CPR. Degree in nursing/education. 5 years RN experience dealing with all entire age spectrum including seniors. Currently registered with CARNA as a Registered Nurse in good standing. Possess a positive attitude. Be able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Strong communication skills, including soft skills. Detail-oriented. Demonstrated experience as Educator/trainer/instructor.
Demonstrated teaching skills. Supportive Pathways/P.I.E.C.E.S. Medication Assistance Program (MAP). NVCI. Wound care experience RAI training. Care Manager training. Quality improvement/change management training/experience. Foot care experience. Familiar with standards and accreditation processes.
