Description
An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and whom has a passion for providing leadership, direction and guidance as well as patient- and family-centered care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in the energetic and vibrant community of Fort McMurray. As Clinical Nurse Educator, you will be a key member of the Clinical Education team providing coaching, mentoring and educational support to new hires as well as continued support to existing staff. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures. You will also play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to the patient’s care, health promotion and health maintenance, as well as act as a resource for nursing staff to draw upon. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum 5 years of experience working in the Emergency Department within the last 2 years. Demonstration of continuing education in change management and leadership. Leadership and decision making/problem solving skills. Must be trained to charge, resus and triage. Strong assessment skills. Proven written/oral communication skills. ENPEP or equivalent. Experience in clinical education and/or formal adult learning and education. Demonstrable proficiency in health information management systems, EMR and computer applications, including Connect Care, Netcare, and Microsoft applications. Current ACLS, PALS, and CTAS provider courses.
Knowledge in Critical Care and Emergency Department. Current ACLS, PALS and CTAS instructor statuses preferred. TNCC preferred
