U32 is an Acute Medical Unit at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with a focus on Oncology/Palliative Care. We are a 30-bed inpatient unit for patients being treated by internal medicine and hospitalist services. The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) works tightly with the multidisciplinary and unit management team as the leader for improving best practices for palliative care and general medicine care. Along with Unit Staff, Charge Nurses, and the unit Manager, the CNE is responsible for establishing and improving a quality culture where staff and patients feel supported. The main tasks that the CNE leads are: Staff palliative care education. Inpatient teaching. Research projects. Best practice audits. Unit continuing education curriculum. Unit and hospital orientation. Review of Patient Safety Incidents and providing Just in Time Teaching. Development of detailed patient education initiatives Assistance monitoring and reaching Accreditation Standards.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Recent experience within community/acute palliative groups, hospice organizations and oncology groups. Experience as a Clinical Educator in an Acute Care setting.
