We are seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join our dynamic General Surgery and Trauma Unit. In this key leadership role, you will lead, coordinate, and evaluate nursing education initiatives that support excellence in patient care and professional development. As the Clinical Nurse Educator, you will: Plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate education programs rooted in adult learning principles. Support nursing staff through orientation, mandatory education, and ongoing competency development. Ensure compliance with clinical standards, organizational policies, legislative requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Identify staff learning needs through quality improvement initiatives, practice gaps, and organizational priorities. Act as a clinical mentor, coach, and resource for nursing staff within a fast‑paced surgical and trauma environment. Collaborate with unit leadership to support quality improvement, patient safety, and change initiatives. Facilitate implementation of evidence‑based practice and practice change. Partner with stakeholders at the unit, site, zone, and provincial levels to align education with broader healthcare objectives.

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Minimum 5 years of acute care experience and 2 years of general surgery/trauma experience. Demonstrated experience in nursing education, staff development, change management, or clinical leadership. Strong knowledge of surgical process, adult learning principles and competency-based education. Excellent communication, facilitation, and de-escalation skills. Ability to influence practice change and support professional growth. Ability to meet the physical requirements of providing front line nursing care.
