Description
Are you ready for a meaningful new challenge? We are seeking an Instructor to support education and professional development for the NICU and Pediatric nursing teams at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. In this role, you will also collaborate with a broader network of instructors at the site and across the organization. Working closely with the Manager and Assistant Head Nurse, you will apply principles of adult learning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the educational needs of nursing staff. The successful candidate will design, deliver, and continuously improve evidence-based learning experiences that promote clinical competence and uphold organizational standards. Your work will include developing and implementing educational materials, supporting the introduction of new clinical practices and processes, and ensuring staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to provide exceptional patient care.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or 15 years RN of Pediatric and/or NICU experience. 3 years of current nursing experience in either one or both clinical areas.
Current instructor certification in NRP, PALS, ACORN, and/or BLS. Demonstrated adult teaching experience. Proven leadership experience in formal roles. Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation abilities. Strong time management and organizational skills. Experience in mentoring and coaching others. Ability to build networks and develop effective working relationships at both the local and provincial levels.
