Description
The Crowsnest Pass Health Centre offers a range of services in acute and continuing care, including a 24-hour emergency department, intensive care, x-ray, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, obstetrical, palliative, therapeutic and surgical services. As a Health Care Aide, you are a member of our nursing care team; you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client centered care. This position is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly resident, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias. Within the long-term care interdisciplinary team, the HCA is responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the resident care plan. Residents are assisted in maximizing their optimum level of independence. You will provide emotional support by being a good listener, being supportive, being friendly and sincere, and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner. You will perform health care duties within your scope of practice as outlined on the resident’s care plan.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.
Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
As Required.
Experience in Geriatric Nursing an asset. Experience working with seniors and dementia preferred. Supportive Pathways or any dementia related courses. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
