Alberta Health Services (AHS) is offering an exciting training program to become a certified Health Care Aide (HCA) across Alberta. This position is a casual position at Consort where you have the opportunity to be employed as an HCA while completing your HCA certification from a post-secondary college. Throughout the program, you will receive support, training, and mentorship from a professional team of nurses. The training program takes approximately 12 months to complete. HCAs assist with routine care to patients and families in a variety of settings. You will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team and a valued member of the community. Strong communication and organization skills will help you in Long Term Care. The Village of Consort is located in south central Alberta about 200 km from Red Deer. Consort is a village of opportunity committed to collaborating with its community and neighbors. It is primarily a farming and ranching community with mixed crops and large cattle operations. The oil industry is also very active in the area. Consort has an active modern hospital and clinic (which is located within the hospital), steps away from the Emergency and Lab and X-Ray. There are a variety of service clubs and organizations operating within Consort and area. Consort also offers a wide range of quality recreation facilities for residents and visitors to enjoy. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
