Health Care Aide - Long Term Care

The Elk Point Healthcare Centre has an opportunity for a passionate Health Care Aide (HCA) dedicated to patient- and family-centered care. This role will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team in Long Term Care which is made of 30 beds. You will build meaningful relationships as you work with clients daily providing personal assistance and support services to those in your care. Working under a regulated health professional following patient care plans and facility policies, you will assist with activities of daily living, such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety, while also supporting organized activities or programs. Superior interpersonal skills will be used daily as you work closely with clients, families, caregivers, and health professionals. You will help maintain a safe environment, observe and report on patients' health and well-being, and ensure effective communication. Your role includes direct client care demonstrating genuine interest and respect for clients and families in your care. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.

Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Must possess current BLS. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. Duties that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, bending, walking and lifting.

Successful completion of a Medication Assistance Program (MAP).
