Description
Environmental Services is about more than providing a pleasant atmosphere, it is about ensuring hospitals and health care facilities are properly cleaned, sanitized, and maintained to provide a healthy environment for everyone. The environmental service staff perform a range of cleaning services in patient care areas, treatment rooms, staff areas, and public spaces. IN this role, you will make a difference to staff, volunteers, patients and families alike
As an Environmental Services staff, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with cleaning and disinfecting clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments within a hospital or facility. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming; restocking supplies in bathroom facilities; stripping linen and making beds; operating industrial cleaning equipment for floor maintenance and restoration; thorough washing of ceilings and windows; emptying hazardous waste; and replenishing cleaning supplies and linens. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader and you may also provide training or orientation to Environmental or Laundry staff.
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of computers and smartphones. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift up to 25 lbs and push and pull up to 50 lbs of force.
