Description
This is an opportunity for a Dietitian to join the interprofessional Pediatric Team at the Camrose Professional Building on a permanent 0.4 FTE basis. The Dietitian is primarily responsible for the direct nutrition care of children with complex medical conditions resulting in eating, feeding and/or swallowing problems as well as children referred for pediatric weight management. Nutrition care will include optimizing growth and development using nutrition assessment as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans using established standards of care, practice protocols, and guidelines in the area of enteral support, oral supplementation, and diet progressions and family centered care for weight management. Collaboration with the team is required to ensure appropriate nutrition care is provided. Responsibilities may include participation on zone and/or provincial Nutrition Services committees as required for meeting Zone/Provincial Child Health Strategy and Standards targets. This position may also deliver group education for parents on various topics.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
The successful candidate will have recent experience as a pediatric dietitian and demonstrate a patient-and family-centered care philosophy; have pediatric nutrition support knowledge and experience; have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and time management.
Minimum 1 year experience working in pediatric acute/ambulatory care. Current knowledge and experience using interdisciplinary feeding assessments to address complex pediatric eating, feeding and swallowing difficulties and pediatric weight management.
