Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nutrition Services team as a permanent 1.0 FTE RDI at the beautiful Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. As a clinical dietitian, you will be responsible for providing direct nutrition care predominantly to adult acute care patients with some coverage of pediatric and neonatal populations required. You will see a variety of nutrition challenges including, but not limited to, malnutrition, enteral nutrition and parenteral nutrition along with providing patient education for a variety of conditions. You will be required to demonstrate a Patient First philosophy when providing nutrition care to patients. Excellent time management and interpersonal skills are essential as you will be working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to fast-paced environments. This position will require you to be part of the on-call dietitian rotation covering weekend and statutory holidays. The city of Grande Prairie is a thriving community full of opportunities. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance Is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Two years recent experience in clinical nutrition setting with demonstrated ability collaboration with colleagues. Preference given to those with the restricted activities 59(1)(c) “to prescribe a Schedule 1 drug for the purpose of providing nutrition support”, and 59(1)(d) “to prescribe parenteral nutrition if the regulated member is providing nutrition support and the member is authorized to prescribe a Schedule 1 drug” via the College of Dietitians of Alberta.
