Description
This is an opportunity for you to become part of a dynamic nutrition team in the city of Medicine Hat. As a Population Public Health (PPH) Dietitian I reporting to the Manager, Nutrition Services South Zone you would be responsible for providing nutrition expertise to promote the health and well-being of our communities. Using population health promotion strategies, you will work in collaboration with zone public health teams, local community stakeholders, and provincial PPH Nutrition Services to identify and address priority nutrition issues, contribute to the development of programs, products and services, lead local implementation and evaluation activities, and participate in sustainability planning and continuous quality improvement. You would develop and disseminate consistent, accurate, evidence-based nutrition information to support the populations within your communities.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Demonstrated excellence and effectiveness in verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of population public health nutrition including a sound understanding of nutrition across the lifespan. Strong networking and communication skills to be able to develop and sustain positive community partnerships. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and community partners as a team. Experience with leading and facilitating groups.
At least one year experience in public health, health promotion or community-based nutrition. Completion of graduate level course in public health or health promotion. Knowledge and experience with virtual health applications (Zoom, MS Teams) for facilitation of groups and meetings.
