Description
This is an opportunity for a Dietitian I is to join the Pediatric Community Rehabilitation (PCR) feeding team, on a temporary 18-month term, at the East Calgary Community Health Centre. This Dietitian I reports directly to the Nutrition Services Manager for Pediatrics in Calgary Zone. The Dietitian I - PCR is primarily responsible for the direct nutrition care for infants and children with pediatric feeding disorders that require community based interdisciplinary care. Nutrition care will include assessment, consultation & care planning for infants & children with disturbances in oral intake resulting in moderate nutrition risk and potentially growth pattern disturbances. This Dietitian actively integrates patient-and family-centered care principles into practice; has excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; has excellent time management and prioritization skills; and maintains continuing professional and practice competencies through professional development activities. This dietitian has a strong background in providing & leading evidence-informed nutrition care. Responsibilities will also include participation on zone and/or provincial NS committees and/or research projects as required for meeting Provincial NS Child Health Strategy & Standards targets.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Minimum three years of experience as a clinical pediatric dietitian. Current experience working with infants and children with developmental, neurological and medical conditions that may contribute to a feeding disorder.
Current advanced skills & knowledge with pediatric feeding disorders. Demonstrated skill working with an interdisciplinary team for screening, assessment & management of PFDs. Demonstrated advanced skill with nutrition education & counselling.
