Description
Give Life Alberta (GLA) is the Provincial Health Corporation dedicated to overseeing the delivery of organ and tissue donation and transplantation services in Alberta. The Provincial Office is responsible for strategic initiatives related to this mandate, ensuring that the opportunity to discuss organ and tissue donation is a consistent component of end-of-life and increasing access to life saving and life changing organ and tissue transplantation. The Senior Donation Consultant is an advanced practice position dedicated to improving the quality delivery of end-of-life care related to organ and tissue donation. As a highly experienced individual, the incumbent will act as a leader, coordinator, mentor and resource to local hospital development teams.
The position is responsible for the development of strong working relationships between GLA and key hospital contacts across Alberta Health Services. The position will also be responsible for liaising with the Specialist in End-of-Life Care, Neuroprognostication and Donation (SEND) Program, ensuring coordination and synergy with GLA. With a focus on quality improvement, the position will contribute in a leadership capacity to all aspects of hospital development related to organ and tissue donation including: fostering a continuous quality improvement culture; collaborating with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement; supporting effective change; creating sustainable outcomes with a focused timeline; leading, mentoring and coaching teams to achieve organizational objectives; planning, leading and facilitating the implementation and monitoring of quality improvement activities; aligning programs and planning with Acute Care Alberta priorities; recommending strategies for service or fiscal improvement; leading change management and project management; data collection and analysis; evaluation and reporting; and contributing to research activities. All GLA staff will occasionally be required to participate in public awareness and community engagement initiatives and events. Some travel is required. GLA is a virtual office, and this position is a remote work arrangement opportunity.
Baccalaureate degree in a healthcare or related field is required (e.g., allied health discipline, nursing).
Experience in the field of organ and tissue donation required (clinical, hospital development). Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership, interpersonal skills/diplomacy, ability to foster relationships, ability to function with a high level of independence, organizational skills, critical and analytical thinking skills required. Competency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams) required.
Master’s degree in a health sciences discipline, healthcare administration/policy or business. Quality improvement, change management, project management, strategic planning, data management, analytics and reporting, adult education, leadership experience preferred. Clinical experience in the field of organ and tissue donation is an asset.
