Description
Based on location availability, the successful applicant has the option to work from either our Ponoka or our Red Deer office. Additionally, this position is eligible for a remote hybrid agreement after a period or orientation. Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Opioid Dependency Program, this position, participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of opioid treatment services for youth and adults. This position also provides professional practice leadership in mental health and addictions (opioid addiction) including planning, coordination, implementation/training and evaluation of continuing professional development activities for clinical staff. The Clinical Supervisor provides individual clinical supervision for staff, promotes best practices and standards established by the relevant professional associations and VODP program. The successful applicant is an assertive, proactive individual with a strong foundation in youth and adult mental health and addictions, works in a fast-paced, positive team environment that requires knowledge of quality improvement/evaluation, processes, data analytics and reporting. As a Clinical Supervisor, you will provide clinical supervision for a discipline, practice area or service sector supporting clinicians to provide excellence in professional practice and enable quality, patient and family-centered care. In this clinical leadership role, you will provide clinical supervision to staff providing addiction and/or mental health services to individuals, families, and groups. This role involves supervision related to a range of assessment, mental health (psychosocial and psychological interventions), and other activities. You will be required to supervise regulated staff requiring supervision to meet the regulatory requirements for practice, and/or to unregulated staff providing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention. This may include observing clinical sessions, reviewing clinical documentation and written reports, conducting team case consultations and offering support, and providing guidance and direction to clinical staff with challenging and urgent cases in a timely manner. In your role, you may work with members of the interdisciplinary team, psychiatrists and community partners in support of effective professional and collaborative practice. You may contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health treatment services in a hospital setting or community. You may also identify and address gaps in clinical practice as well as facilitate addressing of system level gaps and risk management issues. You may provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation and performance evaluation of clinical staff.
Master's degree in Psychology or Social Work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Active or eligible for full registration (not provisional) with the applicable regulatory college. A minimum of 5 years' experience in providing mental health assessment and intervention, including restricted activity of psychosocial intervention.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with youth and a strong knowledge base of Children’s’ Services. Excellent knowledge of addictions and mental illness. Extensive knowledge of Suboxone/buprenorphine and Methadone Treatment. Advanced computer literacy. Above average keyboarding skills and proficient with computer programs - Outlook MS Office, Skype, ASIST, etc. Minimum 5 years’ experience in addictions treatment. Minimum 5 years supervisory and mentoring experience. Experience in the development of procedures. Must be knowledgeable in Motivational Interviewing and/or Solution Focused Interventions and have experience in direct clinical supervision. Counselling background and leadership skills and training is essential.
