This is an exciting opportunity within Cardiac Arrhythmia Services at the Mazankowski Heart Institute. The Cardiology Technologist II (CT II) uses critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to provide exceptional care to individuals with implanted cardiac devices. Responsibilities include the assessment, coordination, education, administration, and evaluation of health services delivered through multiple platforms, including in-person visits, telephone encounters, and virtual Zoom/Teams sessions. The CT II is responsible for remote device monitoring, device interrogations, and device programming within the Cardiac Device Clinic and the Pacemaker Implant Suite, as required. Physical demands of the role include standing for extended periods while wearing lead attire; pushing, pulling, and transporting loads greater than 50 lbs on a regular basis; performing repetitive motions related to typing, computer, and telephone work; and lifting, bending, and reaching for prolonged periods. This role carries a high level of autonomy and accountability. The CT II coordinates follow-up visits and testing and provides patient and family education related to cardiac devices, medications, lifestyle changes, and tests or procedures within scope of practice. As a Cardiology Technologist, you will participate in the establishment of standards, goals and objectives and provide expertise in the selection and evaluation of new equipment. You will provide cardiology technology expertise for trans disciplinary case management and perform pacemaker technology functions on a regular ongoing basis.

Completion of certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist (ASRCT). Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment with strong communication skills. BCIT Cardiac Rhythm Device Technology (Event Certificate) required.

Minimum three years of recent cardiology experience in a hospital setting preferred. Connect Care experience in an ambulatory clinic. Excellent reliability and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles. Candidates may be required to write a theory exam during the interview; failure to achieve a passing mark may impact the hiring decision.
