Description
Are you interested in developing and supporting high performing clinical teams? The role of the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is of paramount importance for Olds Hospital and Care Centre. Under the direction of the acute care manager (ACM), the CRN works in concert with the Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE), AHN to support staff in developing proficiency in all facets of rural nursing, optimizing team function. Utilizing highly developed clinical, organizational and leadership skills while problem-solving and promoting excellence in nursing practice within areas such as Obstetrics, Emergency, Medicine, Surgery and Palliative Care. The role within the rural acute site serves as a resource, role model, educator, mentor and coach in developing staff abilities of leadership, clinical decision making, team function. Provide expertise and leadership in development and implementation of local clinical guidelines and protocols; promotes the use of evidence; provides expert support and consultation: facilitate program changes under the direction of the ACM. The leadership role provides support in high-quality practice environments ensuring safety for patients and program effectiveness. Utilizing expertise in project management, administrative and organizational skills, research in leading new clinical initiatives, maintaining standards, facilitating audits, coordinating orientation of new staff, tracking staff development and educational goals. Coordinating clinical placements of students. Assist leading and facilitating team function in various initiatives, clinical working groups with physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, promoting the use of evidence, provide expert support and consultation: facilitation of program direction and change management. Working in alignment with other CRNs, CNEs and leadership within rural facilities.
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
A passionate and experienced Registered Nurse with over 5 years of clinical practice in rural acute care, bringing a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in rural healthcare. Demonstrated excellence in clinical leadership, staff mentorship, and adult education, with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development. Adept at designing and delivering impactful education programs that enhance clinical competencies and improve patient outcomes in resource-limited settings
Completion of post graduate education is desired. Demonstrated experience delivering education programs. Ability to deliver just in time learning through 1:1 mentorship, small group facilitation, tailored to frontline clinical needs. Public speaking skills, presenting in both small and large team settings Knowledge and application of the LEADS Framework in healthcare leadership. Commitment to lifelong learning, clinical excellence, interdisciplinary team development.
