Description
The Perinatal Clinical Practice Coordinator (Women’s & Children’s Health) provides leadership in reviewing, updating, developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating departmental clinical guidelines/practice support documents in order to promote, support and facilitate excellence in Perinatal care within Women’s Health Services in the Central Zone (antepartum, triage, labour and delivery, obstetrical operating room, obstetrical recovery room and postpartum, infant/newborn and pediatrics). The Perinatal Clinical Practice Coordinator works in collaboration with Central Zone Women’s Health Programmatic Director and Zone Clinical Department Heads, Clinical Nurse Educators & MOREOB Superusers, multi-disciplinary care providers, and Unit Managers to support safe, effective, well-coordinated high quality and family centered care to families within the Women’s & Children’s Health services program. The Perinatal Clinical Practice Coordinator will provide clinical leadership through work on applicable zonal committees, with a wide range of stakeholders, and will provide assistance with the implementation of new guidelines/practice support documents and QI initiatives. This individual will be required to support across the zone and is required to travel to obstetrical sites.
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Proficient computer skills - MS Outlook, MS Office required. Obstetrical triage experience required. Fetal Health Surveillance Instructor Preferred or history of FHS facilitation. Ability to travel throughout Central Zone required. Minimum 5 years recent Labor/Delivery experience (within the last 7 years) in rural nursing. Experience in creation/facilitation of orientation/education in obstetrics with rural nursing.
Experience in participating in research, policy development, project initiation, implementation and evaluation an asset. Advanced obstetrical operating room training preferred. History of supporting Accreditation preferred. Experience in leading quality improvement projects an asse
