Description
An exciting opportunity is available to join the leadership supporting a 64-bed Medicine program across two 32-bed units at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is a front-line leadership role working to full scope of practice, providing hands on clinical support, mentorship, education, and guidance to nursing staff. As a Clinical Resource Nurse, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator, supporting front-line staff through clinical troubleshooting, and modeling best practices to promote safe and efficient care delivery. You will collaborate closely with staff and unit leadership to act as a resource for complex cases and contribute to quality improvement, change management, and sustainability efforts. The CRN also plays a vital role in new staff orientation, assessing educational needs, and partnering with team members to develop individualized learning plans. This role is essential in advancing quality improvement initiatives and supporting high-quality, patient and family-centered care in alignment with nursing practice standards and AHS organizational priorities. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of two (2) years of acute Medicine (or equivalent) experience at a regional or higher level of care. Demonstrates comprehensive clinical knowledge and expertise within the medicine program, supporting evidence-informed practice. Exhibits strong leadership skills, including effective communication, collaboration, and the ability to mentor and develop others. Demonstrates the skill in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of education and training programs and materials. Exhibits the ability to demonstrate leadership through modeling, coaching, and mentoring to enhance staff competence, professional growth, and safe, high-quality patient care.
One (1) year experience in a leadership/educational role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
