If so, we invite you to apply for the Analyst position within the Surveillance & Reporting team in Cancer Advanced Analytics, Data & Analytics. The Surveillance & Reporting team plays an important role in supporting cancer care across Alberta by leading cancer surveillance activities and providing reporting and analytics support to inform operational planning, service improvement, decision-making, and broader cancer control efforts. As a member of a collaborative team that includes analysts, senior analysts, programmers, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists, you will contribute to meaningful work that supports cancer services and helps improve outcomes for Albertans. This position is well suited to an individual with a strong interest in healthcare data, reporting, information management, and dashboard development.

Reporting to the manager of Surveillance & Reporting, the analyst supports a range of reporting and analytic activities related to cancer services and healthcare operations. The successful candidate will assist with retrieving, organizing, validating, and summarizing information from healthcare databases, information systems, and dashboards to support operational and reporting needs. This role requires an understanding of how to locate and work with healthcare information, identify appropriate data sources, and recognize when to seek guidance or escalate questions to the appropriate subject matter experts. The analyst will work closely with internal team members and stakeholders across the organization to support routine and ad hoc requests, dashboard development, and data informed decision making. The ideal candidate will bring experience working with health information or healthcare data, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.Please enter information in this field.

Completion of post-secondary education, training or certification in Health Information Management, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered. 1-3 years working in a healthcare environment and with healthcare data. Ability to navigate databases and information systems to search for, retrieve, and organize information. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Tableau. Effective verbal and written communication. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access), and the ability to learn new software tools quickly. Creative and resourceful approach to solving data and evaluation challenges. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Experience using Connect Care Hyperspace. Experience with Tableau and developing Tableau dashboard. Experience with SQL or other relevant data extraction tools. Understanding of Cancer Care Alberta operations and how these may differ from acute care inpatient operations. Experience communicating with a range of stakeholders, including peers, managers, directors, and healthcare professionals.
