This position operates with minimal supervision and is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations for the Undergraduate and Off-Service Program in the department of Emergency Medicine. The position supports the clinical and academic activities related to various Committees assigned. The successful candidate must be able to act independently as the physicians she/he supports are often not available for extended periods of time. The successful candidate must be familiar with the policies, business practices, corporate applications and support infrastructure of two organizations - Alberta Health Services and the University of Calgary. This position is responsible for supporting the coordination and management of the daily activities of the Committee Chair/s and Program Director for the training program. The incumbent works within a team environment, understanding the purpose, goals of the team, exercising creativity and initiative to bring forward ideas to assist the team. Professionalism, tact, judgment and self-motivation are required in representing the health care providers and the two organizations exercising decision-making where the impact of error would be high. The successful candidate will possess exceptional skills in organization, attention to detail, decision-making, and handling of confidential information, with a strong work ethic, and good communication skills. Key responsibilities include but not limited to supporting the UME and Residents Off-Service Coordinators, the Residency Program, the chair/s of relevant committees, physician academic activities (i.e., Simulation, Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, etc.), calendar management, booking meetings/rooms, minute-taking, phone calls, fax, mail and other duties as assigned.

As an Administrative Support V, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health care setting, preferably a hospital or university. Knowledge with AHS applications and system. The ability to deliver results, self-motivated, and team focused. Must be fully proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PDF, Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint & PowerPoint). Excellent typing skills of 60-70 wpm.

Preference for residency program and Undergraduate Medical Education and/or University of Calgary experience. University degree is considered as a strong asset.
