Description
Working under the supervision of Clerical Supervisors and Managers, this dynamic and integral Admin IV position performs a variety of clerical duties for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinic, acting as a liaison between Patients, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and other Outpatient and Community departments. The Admin Support IV collaborates with patients and third parties and communicates with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other inpatient/outpatient departments. Duties include scanning out of zone documents for the outpatient clinic and endoscopy unit and recalling archived charts from off-site storage to access records, managing release of information requests from patients, as well as medical and non-medical requestors, and collaborating with physicians and the NP team to complete Insurance and Disability forms. Additional roles to other Admin Support IV roles including Clinic MOA, and Endoscopy Unit Clerk are also included within role. Hours of work are currently Monday to Friday between 0730-1700 and may change to meet operational requirements.
As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant/Unit Clerk course or equivalent work experience required. Knowledge of Medical Terminology required. One-two years in a medical clerical position required. Fluency in English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize, problem solve and handle frequent interruptions required. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task, problem-solve and work independently completing all tasks assigned required. Ability to foster positive interpersonal communications and work effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team required. Accurate data entry/keyboarding skills required. Extensive experience and competence with multiple computer systems required. Previous medical records management experience is required.
Previous Gastroenterology / Hepatology and Outpatient experience preferred. Experience with Netcare, Connect Care strongly preferred. Other software experiences an asset.
