Description
If you enjoy working independently in a fast-paced environment providing administrative and support services to Geriatric Assessment and Chronic Pain triage professionals within a contact centre, this position may be of interest to you. Reporting to the Manager, Central Access, the key responsibilities will include assisting in the processing of referrals, seeking out additional information, liaising with physicians, nurses, referral sources, as well as internal AHS departments and external agencies. It will be responsible for updating and maintaining resources for community providers and complete a variety of administrative duties to enable the CA triage department to support excellent patient and family-centered care. Your solid knowledge of the Alberta Health Services system, computer systems, and their applications will enable you to meet tight deadlines. Your strong organizational, interpersonal skills and ability to problem solve will allow you to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner in this dynamic and evolving work environment. As an Administrative Support IV, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Some post-secondary education.
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma supplemented by 2-5 years’ experience in a contact centre or office setting, having worked in a fast paced, customer service focused environment. Medical terminology course required, Unit Clerk or other medical education preferred. Familiarity of the geriatric and chronic pain population is considered an asset. Equivalent experience may be considered. Intermediate computer skills are also a requirement for this position. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and well-developed critical thinking skills, and be able to perform effectively in a team environment both independently and as a team member. They will have strong knowledge of computer systems and applications. They will demonstrate good organizational and time management skills in relation to workload and patient scheduled appointments and demonstrate ability to adapt to new or unexpected situations, flexibility in approach to patient and interpersonal situations. Excellent customer service and telephone skills are a must.
