Description
This is an exciting opportunity at the Northeast Community Health Centre. This facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services. Reporting to the Manager of IV Therapy and Ambulatory Care, the incumbent serves as the first point of contact in the clinics and will be responsible for the efficient and accurate flow of communication between health professionals/departments, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the management of incoming/outgoing telephone calls and faxes, greeting/directing patients and visitors, utilizing Connect Care to book appointments, manage referrals/consults, transcribe and process physician orders, book tests/procedures, as well as relay information related to admissions/transfers/discharges of patients. The incumbent will also be responsible for rooming patients, obtaining patient height/weight, and may assist with other duties to support the clinical team. The incumbent will be working with various patients, including those from high-risk social determinants of health and new Canadians.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk course or equivalent training program (including Medical Terminology). Excellent knowledge of the English language, demonstrating strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills with experience utilizing computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Minimum of 1 year recent Unit Clerk experience. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong critical thinking skills, demonstrated time-management and organization skills, and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Incumbent must have training and experience utilizing Connect Care in an Ambulatory setting.
Preference given to those with recent experience in an Ambulatory Care setting.
