Health Information Management, Access and Disclosure is seeking an Access and Disclosure (A&D) Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to facilitate the secure, accurate and compliant release of health information in compliance with the Health Information Act (HIA). Reporting to the A&D Supervisor, you will act as a key liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and third parties, collecting and validating documentation to ensure requests are processed accurately and completely. Your work will directly impact the safe and effective exchange of health information across the healthcare system. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines. You work well independently with minimal supervision and also thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment. Your ability to deliver high-quality customer service and communicate clearly and respectfully with a diverse range of stakeholders will contribute to the overall success of the A&D team. As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Candidates must have successfully completed a Medical Office Assistant, Hospital Unit Information Office assistant certificate program and hold a Medical Terminology Certificate. Proficiency in keyboarding is required demonstrating a minimum speed of 45 words per minute (testing required). Minimum 1-year recent experience in healthcare documentation or release of information within a complex health care environment or provincial health system. Minimum 1 year working in a CIS or electronic medical record (EMR) application. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and pharmacology across all acute care specialties, as demonstrated by achieving a score of 80% or higher on a proficiency assessment. Fundamental understanding of health information privacy, access, and disclosure practices ensures your success in this role. Candidates will demonstrate strong English language skills in reading, writing, comprehension, and oral communication. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is essential. You are comfortable navigating electronic systems, prioritizing tasks, and adapting to frequent interruptions. You have excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. A customer-focused approach and strong interpersonal skills is essential.
Additional training related to the Health Information Act, access and disclosure, or privacy/confidentiality is preferred. Experience working with hybrid or electronic health records is an advantage. Health Information Certified Associate (HICA) certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management is preferred.
