Description

As a member of the virtual monitoring team, you will observe and monitor patients from a remote location using video technology. You will recognize and respond quickly to behaviors that compromise patient safety by working cooperatively with nursing staff. Even though you are not in the same physical location, you are a valued member of the healthcare team. The virtual attendant is responsible for monitoring a live video feed of patients to ensure their safety and well-being. You will recognize activities that may result in harm and respond by communicating clearly and effectively with the patient using a 2-way audio device. If the patient needs immediate help, you will activate an alarm and provide concise information to the nurse. You are responsible for creating accurate and detailed records of observations, patient interactions and events in the electronic health record. The ability to complete equipment safety checks and basic equipment troubleshooting is also required. Delivering equipment to multiple units is also a responsibility of this role.
As an Administrative Support II, you will require administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Experience monitoring multiple patients simultaneously. Prolonged sitting. Ability to continuously walk, pushing equipment for a minimum of two hours per shift. Must remain alert at all times while monitoring patient activity. Client-centered approach. Attention to detail. Basic computer knowledge and ability to continually use keyboard/mouse. Ability to operate a smartphone device. Ability to work with limited supervision. Teamwork/ability to work collaboratively. Ability to follow established protocols. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and provide verbal instructions in English. Ability to adapt/respond to changing priorities.
