Enhancing community care options for Albertans continues to be a key priority for Recovery Alberta: Mental Health and Addiction. Our goal is to provide high-quality diverse community, home, and individual mental health services and to support the long-term mental health and wellness of Assertive Outreach clients and their families. To support this goal, the North Zone (NZ) Mental Health and Addiction department has an exciting opportunity for an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker with the NZ Assertive Outreach Services (AOS) Team. This position serves clients in area 6 (High Prairie, Slave Lake, and surrounding areas) who have a severe and persistent mental illness, through a Recovery-Oriented Psychosocial Rehabilitative framework that promotes client respect, autonomy, health, and improved quality of life. This role provides the opportunity to be creative in the development of current and new programming and services to support the Mental Health needs of AOS clients. As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of community based Mental Health and Addiction services. You will provide hands-on, in-person support and interventions to AOS clients and their families, as identified in the clients individualized recovery plan. Your services may include supporting or teaching activities of daily living, engaging clients in recreation and social activities, improving access to services / appointments by providing transportation and working with the AOS case manager, common resources and agencies to coordinate services for clients. As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health and service providers. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.

Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent.

First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS). In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Use of Microsoft tools, Psychosocial Rehabilitation. Experience in health care or settings with transferable experiences. Knowledge and experience working with diverse and marginalized populations using an inclusive lens of equity & diversity. Knowledge and application of trauma informed care and harm reduction. Understanding of the impact of severe mental illness and stigma. Previous experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness is an asset.
