Some of your key responsibilities will include: Assisting residents with daily tasks like engaging in activities, helping with meal preparation. Medication administration. Providing support to individuals with physical, emotional, or social challenges. Helping residents maintain independence while providing personal care. Offering emotional support and encouragement as needed. Advocating for residents’ needs and ensuring they receive the support and services they require. Connecting residents with appropriate resources and services. Working closely with other team members and professionals to provide the best care possible. Helping residents with healthcare needs, such as attending medical appointments and managing health tasks. Encouraging social engagement and helping residents build connections within the community. Developing individualized support plans tailored to each resident’s needs and goals. Monitoring residents' progress and adjusting care plans when necessary. Supporting skill-building and personal development. Teaching residents’ self-care techniques and coping strategies. Promoting a respectful, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environment. Responding to emergency situations and providing immediate support. Keeping accurate records of residents’ progress and interactions. As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health and service providers. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.

Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent.

Diploma from a disability, health-related, or social sciences field (commensurate combinations of education and work experience equivalencies will be considered). Must be able to understand, read, write and speak English. 2-4 years of community experience with targeted population is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid (FA) Certification is required prior to/upon commencement.

A degree in a disability, health related, or social sciences field (equivalencies will be considered). Training in non-violent crisis intervention and psychosocial rehabilitation is desirable. Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and a co-occurring mental illness and/or behavioral concerns is an asset. Experience working night shift in a community group home is preferred - Applicable to night position only.
