To support Air Canada continued growth and success, the Network Planning team is expanding its team that determines Air Canada’s flying schedule and network. Main objective is to develop the flying schedule and provide analysis to manage Air Canada’s route network in accordance with corporate objectives for profitability, growth, and competitive market position.

Responsibilities:

This is a critical position within the Network Planning organization that is responsible for providing analysis and schedules for Air Canada’s route network

  • Serve as a key contributor within the Network Planning organization, delivering analytical insights and flight schedules that shape Air Canada’s route network.
  • Improve overall network profitability by analyzing and adjusting flight frequencies, timings, and patterns across the full fleet.
  • Support the optimal allocation of Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express aircraft to maximize asset utilization, revenue generation, and operating margin.
  • Evaluate and balance revenue opportunities and cost structures when developing schedule plans, ensuring commercially sound and financially disciplined outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Airports, Flight Operations, Maintenance, and other operational partners to ensure all schedules are operationally viable and executable.
  • Incorporate operational constraints and safety considerations into network and schedule design to support safe, compliant, and reliable operations.
  • Help develop hub connectivity strategies by optimizing traffic flows, bank structures, and connection strategies to enhance product competitiveness and network efficiency.
  • Assess and redesign passenger routing, including hub bypass opportunities, to improve customer experience, reduce cost, improve resilience, and strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Apply sound judgment in evaluating trade offs between revenue, cost, operational complexity, and on time performance.
  • Develop and maintain analytical reports and dashboards using Excel and Power BI to support data driven decision making and scenario evaluation.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, structured presentations to communicate plans, insights, and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Effectively utilize network planning, scheduling, connectivity and optimization tools to support both strategic and tactical planning objectives.
  • Ensure schedules are designed with robust and competitive bank structures at core hubs to enable efficient passenger connectivity and schedule reliability.
  • Work in close partnership with the Scheduling Integrity team, leveraging AI enabled tools to build operationally sound schedules with a strong focus on forecasted on time performance (OTP).
  • Influence network outcomes through timely, high impact decision making that materially affects revenue performance, cost efficiency, asset utilization, and operational reliability.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related analytical discipline; relevant certifications or continuing education considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated creativity, problem solving ability, and innovativeness when addressing complex airline planning and scheduling challenges.
  • Comfortable questioning existing approaches and contributing new ideas to improve network, scheduling, and planning outcomes.
  • Strong ability to convert high level strategic objectives into executable seasonal schedules supported by sound analytical insight.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outputs under tight timelines and changing requirements.
  • One to two years of experience in airline planning, scheduling, revenue management, or a demonstrated interest and aptitude in aviation and the airline industry.
  • Prior exposure to airline scheduling or network planning concepts, or the capacity to rapidly develop this expertise, is considered an advantage.
  • Self motivated team player who performs effectively in a fast paced, collaborative environment and under time pressure, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
